Our History

Our History
The Ross Estate built the lanes at Family Fun Bowling Center in Bangor, Maine, in 1959, which was then known as Bowl Mor Lanes. Between 1959 and 1962, Bowl Mor Lanes was purchased by Brunswick Corporation and there were 10 lanes of candlepin bowling and 10 lanes of 10-pin bowling.
Again, between 1962 and 1967, Bowl Mor Lanes was sold to the Carate Family and AMF. In 1967, the board of directors renamed it Family Fun Lanes and later that year, the Meucci Family purchased it. Two more lanes were added in 1971, giving the center a total of 20 lanes.

Then in 1992, Family Fun Lanes was remodeled and AMF Concept 90 bowl returns were added. We removed pencil and paper and replaced them with Brunswick Automatic Scorers in 1997. In 2003, a state-of-the-art AMF Century HVO Summit oiling machine and AMF 82-30 pinsetters were purchased.

In addition, in 2010, Family Fun Bowling Center got a major remodel. All the lanes were upgraded to premium synthetic, which is measured and checked to USBC™ standards regularly, giving you peak, league bowling performance.
